It is a Cannonau of ancient style: warm, thick, alcoholic and characterized by a clear but balanced sweetness. As grape variety, Cannonau from Mamoiada, at altitudes ranging from 550 to 800 meters above sea level, is characterized by a great balance between polyphenols, acidity and alcohol content which give it a great elegance. It has a peculiar taste and aroma thanks to natural vinification and malolactic fermentations which make a unique and perfectly recognizable wine. It has a long lasting potential and can definitely be listed among the great wines of the Italian tradition.
Sedilesu Winery is a family company. It was established by Giuseppe and Grazia, both of them in their seventies, but it is now managed by their children – Antonietta married to Emilio, Francesco to Rosa, Salvatore to Mariella – and their thirteen grandchildren.
The Winery was established about 40 years ago, when the first hectare of the vineyard was bought. For years the product was sold like loose wine in neighbouring small towns. Since 2000, when the management of business was handed over to their children, they tried and bottled Cannonau to see whether its aroma and taste, typical of the local tradition, might have been appreciated by demanding costumers.
Mamoida, a small town with a population of 2600, is located in the heart of Barbagia di Ollolai region. It is 16 km far from the provincial capital Nuoro, near to Gennargentu, Supramonte and the most important resorts. It borders with the territories of Fonni, Gavoi, Ollolai, Sarule, Orani, Nuoro and Orgosolo. Mamoiada is built in a hilly area at an altitude of 736 meter above sea level. It experiences a temperate microclimate with sleet in winter- and springtime, but hot and dry summers. The great temperature variation between day and night that occurs shortly before harvesting improves grape polyphenolic profile.

Currently, Cannonau is the most common red wine in Sardinia (around 28% of wine production).
Despite its inclination for warm climate, it has a good tolerance to cold winters and seaside winds.
This wine is ruby red in colour, with garnet red highlights. It has an intense aroma of wild berries and spices, and tastes dry and sapid.
From Cannonau grapes mainly derives the DOC Cannonau di Sardegna wine, red or rosè, made with at least 90% of Cannonau grapes. Its ageing lasts at least a year and takes place in oak or chestnut barrels.
