Carasau or Fressa Bread, made with durum wheat semolina, water, yeast, salt and without fats for seasoning, is one of the many foods of the Sardinian tradition. The factors which guarantee our costumers a product of high quality are the following: selected Sardinian wheat, grinded directly in the bakery through a stone mill; semolina, employed for the leaf-stripping; yeast. Its crunch, lightness, and high digestibility – particularly when yeast tends to make you feel bloated – are its peculiarity! Long-life bread, it can substitute the classical one and be used as food to travel or bring to office. It perfectly goes with many summer dishes, can be dipped in water and, once it has become softer, employed to create baked rollers with salami and cheese. Thanks to its versatility, it can be used dry like lasagna and arranged in layers with numerous ingredients: ham, Parma, tomatoes, cheese, salad, eggs… Let your imagination do the rest!
Easy food coming from a difficult preparation. It undergoes two different batches: they give it its crunchy and crumbly appearance which contribute to maintain for months its preservation.
It can be enjoyed in many different ways according to your preferences. As snack or nibble; after being dipped in water and become soft enough to be rolled up, it can be filled with salami, traditional cheese, vegetables in oil or creams, tomatoes filled with tuna. When dry, you can spread on it creamy cheese, olive pâté, cream of vegetables, jam, honey. With sausages, different kinds of cheese, bottarga, olives and vegetables in oil. If browned in the oven, with a trickle of olive oil and a pinch of salt, it becomes an excellent snack.
